All written submissions should be no more than 5 pages (8.5 by 11) long and no more than 3 prose pieces or 5 poems. Prose and poetry may be included within the same submission. Visual art submissions should include no more than 5 pieces. We encourage submissions which include sensitive topics to be prefaced by a short content warning.

Simultaneous submissions will be considered.

Print and Payment:

Acceptance of a publication offer to the online edition will also be considered as acceptance to the annual Balestra print edition. All contributors will be compensated with a free copy of the annual print edition, which will be sent to them free of charge, or an equivalent payment. If you would like to opt out of inclusion in the print edition please specify that in your submission, and if you do opt out you will not received a print edition as compensation.

Note: Due to the complications of international shipping more information may be needed, or shipping may not be possible. In those cases Balestra will do our best to assure equivalent compensation.
